Year 10 student Darrell Wijaya brought home the gold medal after rigorous national-level competition against 500+ participants from across Indonesia.

We are delighted to share that Darrell Wijaya, a Year 10 student at Sangkara International School, has been awarded the Gold Medal at the 2026 National Mathematics Olympiad.

Darrell competed alongside more than 500 finalists representing top schools nationwide. The multi-stage competition challenged participants across advanced algebra, combinatorial mathematics, number theory, and geometric analysis.

“Darrell’s triumph reflects not only his natural aptitude for logical problem-solving, but also the rigorous inquiry-based environment fostered by our Cambridge faculty,” said Sangkara Head of Mathematics.

Empowering Mathematical Inquirers

At Sangkara, the Cambridge Lower Secondary and IGCSE mathematics curriculum places a strong emphasis on conceptual understanding rather than rote memorization. Students are encouraged to explore multiple pathways to solve complex non-routine challenges.

Darrell will now prepare for the International Mathematics Olympiad (IMO) preparatory selection camp, receiving specialized mentoring and individualized coaching from Sangkara’s faculty.
